The 20th EU/Japan Summit took place in Brussels on 28/05/2011.
Discussions focused on a comprehensive strengthening of EU/Japan relations across a range of sectors. In particular, leaders discussed the deepening of economic relations, notably through the launch of negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement.
Energy cooperation including the strengthening of global nuclear safety standards was also high on the agenda. The Europeans started the meeting by expressing again their solidarity and support to Japan after the disasters of 11/03/2011.
