Kristalina Georgieva visit to Pakistan after floods
Kristalina Georgieva, European Commissioner in charge of International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response, visited Pakistan on the 24 and 25 of August to see the extent of the damage caused by monsoon floods. She visited the village of Azakhel, in the North of the country, where she had the occasion to talk to victims. In Islamabad, she held meetings with Pakistani authorities. She was briefed by General Nadeem, Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on the scale of the disaster and damages. Then she met with Shah Mehmood Quershi, Foreign Minister of Pakistan, to express Europe's commitment to help the country in facing a massive humanitarian disaster.
