Visit of Kristalina Georgieva to the flood affected areas in Pakistan

Kristalina Georgieva, Member of the EC in charge of International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response, visited Pakistan on 24 and 25 August 2010 to see the extent of the damage caused by monsoon floods. She visited the village of Azakhel, in the North of the country, where she had the opportunity to talk to victims. In Islamabad, she held meetings with Pakistani authorities. She was briefed by Nadeem Ahmed, Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of Pakistan on the scale of the disaster and damages. Then she met with Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Pakistani Minister for Foreign Affairs, to express Europe's commitment to help the country in facing a massive humanitarian disaster.
