Visit by Catherine Ashton to Tajikistan: statement
On 29 November 2012, Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the EC, was in visit in Tajikistan. This video shows a press conference given by Catherine Ashton at the end of her visit.
The EU and the Tajikistan signed an agreement on supporting the development of the agri-business sector in Tajikistan. The Enhanced Competitiveness of Tajik Agribusiness Programme (ECTAP) builds on the success of earlier EU-funded programmes and aims to improve the competitiveness of agri-food companies in the Republic of Tajikistan along with the quality, diversity and marketing of their produce. It has a value of € 16 million and will be implemented in cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, supporting the implementation of the Tajik government’s agenda for agricultural reform.
