Visit of Jyrki Katainen, Finnish Minister for Finance, to José Manuel Barroso
On 6 October 2011 in Brussels, José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, received Jyrki Katainen, Finnish Prime Minister. It was his first visit to the EC as a Prime Minister. They discussed some of the pressing issues on their agenda notably the economic agenda, ahead of the European Council on 17-18 October 2011.
The President stressed that they were committed to the entry into force of the enhanced European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF). He added that the votes were taking place in some of the Member States and he hoped that this process would be concluded soon.
José Manuel Barroso also welcomed the agreement reached on 03/10/2011 between Finland and the other euro area Member States on the issue of collateral in relation to the second assistance package under discussion for Greece.
