General Affairs Council, 3032th meeting: joint press conference by Steven Vanackere, acting Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Institutional Reforms and President in office of the Council, and Maroš Šefčovič
On 13/09/2010, Olivier Chastel, acting Belgian Secretary of State for European Affairs, and Steven Vanackere, acting Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Institutional Reforms, co-chaired the 3032nd meeting of the General Affairs Council, which took place in Brussels.
The meeting aimed to preparing the European Council of 16 September 2010. There were also discussion with Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council, about the state of play on the task force proceedings about economic recovery, and the way the European Union has to organise itself to make this possible.
And the Council was informed by the Commission of developments as regards a common register of interest representatives (lobbyists), that the Commission and the European Parliament were establishing, and which was expected to become operational as from June 2011.
Steven Vanackere and Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Inter-Institutional Relations and Administration, gave a joint press conference after the meeting, to explain the relevance of the issues.
