Extracts from the joint press briefing by Javier Solana, Secretary General of the Council of the EU and High Representative for CFSP, and Nikola Gruevski, Prime Minister of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia
On Wednesday 28 October 2009, Javier Solana, High Representative of the council of the EU, and high representative for CFSP, met Nikola Grueski, Prime Minister of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the latest developments regarding former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, bilateral relations and regional issues.
Javier Solana congratulated the Prime Minister and the people of Macedonia on the most recent progress achieved by his country. He specifically referred to the issues of visa liberalisation, the completion of the border demarcation with Kosovo and the achievements acknowledged by the Commission in its Progress Report.
The European High Representative underlined that this doesn't mean that everything is done, but added that a lot has been done and explained that when you have the certainty in yourself that you can do a part of the journey, you can be sure that you can end the journey.
