The European Commission reacted to the announcements made by Germany and Poland in relation with the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty.
On Germany, Spokesperson Pia Ahrenkilde said that the European Commission understands President Koehler decision to put on hold his country's ratification as it is necessary to wait for the decision of the highest Court.
In relation with Polish President Lech Kaczynski saying that he would not sign the Lisbon Treaty by describing such a move as "pointless", she remembered that he was one main actor in the negotiations of the Treaty, and also that the Council has decided to go on with the ratification process.
