Extraits de la conférence de presse de Stavros Dimas sur le rapport 2008 sur les eaux de baignade
With the summer holidays approaching, Stavros Dimas, Member of the EC in charge of Environment, presented the annual report on the quality of bathing water in Europe. It reveals that the large majority of bathing sites across the European Union met EU hygiene standards in 2007. Some 95% of coastal bathing areas and 89% of bathing sites in rivers and lakes comply with the mandatory standards. The report provides useful water quality information for the millions of people who visit Europe's beaches every summer.
Stavros Dimas said that a slight downward trend can be observed for coastal bathing areas but bathing water quality remains high in the European Union. He encourage Member States to continue to work towards full compliance of all bathing sites, inland and on the coast.
He also welcomed the decrease in the amount of bathing sites removed from the list of tested sites and thus escaping official scrutiny. LISTE DES PLANSLINKLINK
