Danuta Hübner, Member of the EC in charge of Regional Policy, and Antoine Karam, President of the Regional Council of Guyana, gave a joint press conference on the EU/Outermost Regions relations.
Europe's seven outermost regions (the Canaries, the Azores, Madeira, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique and Réunion) were the focus of discussions at the conference on the future of Europe's strategy for the outermost regions.
This conference was attended by Danuta Hübner, the seven Presidents of the regions and representatives of the French, Portuguese and Spanish Governments.
The conference addressed four major challenges for the outermost regions: climate change, demographic changes and migratory flows, the future of agriculture, and the role of the outermost regions in the EU's maritime policy. SHOTLIST
