SOUNDBITE (in English) by Mette Gjerskov, Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries of Denmark: We primarily focused ion the fisheries reform, and maximum sustainable yield and the integration of environment to law requirements. The first debate on the MSY( maximum sustainable yield), I think is was clear from our discussion that all member states support sustainable fisheries. They also support the need for 2015 but it will be difficult to reach an agreement on MSY of all pieces in 2015.

SOUNDBITE (in English) by Mette Gjerskov: The other issue today was the European maritime and fisheries reform. I think that financial support from the fund will be essential for achieving the goals in the fisheries reform, so today we discus the best model for the allocation of funds. I think we could say that member states agreed that they should continue to support the integrated maritime policy but less than today. Many member states agreed that fisheries should be the primary focus of the fund.

SOUNDBITE (in English) by Maria Damanaki, Member of the EC in charge of Maritime affairs and Fisheries: I agreed that we have to give more attention to the control issues and also to the many given for data collection since the new science based approach on fisheries needs more and concrete data and needs more and good implementation and control.
