Valdis Dombrovskis, Vice-President of the EC in charge of the Euro and Social Dialogue, Marianne Thyssen, Member of the EC in charge of Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility, and Pierre Moscovici, Member of the EC in charge of Economic and Financial Affairs, Taxation and Customs, gave a joint press conference on Country-specific recommendations (CSR) 2015. The European Commission adopted on the same day country-specific economic policy recommendations for 2015 and 2016 asking for national actions to create jobs and stimulate growth.
These recommendations reflected the EC’s economic and social agenda. Since Commission Juncker took office in November 2014 and published its Annual Growth Survey 2015, this agenda had focused on three mutually reinforcing pillars: boosting investment, implementing structural reforms and pursuing fiscal responsibility.
The successful implementation of the 2015 country-specific recommendations would be key to making Europe’s return to jobs and growth sustainable and less dependent on the external, cyclical factors that supported the recovery.
