Visit of Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the EC, and Johannes Hahn, Member of the EC, to Italy

Johannes Hahn, Member of the EC in charge of Regional Policy, travelled to Pompeii - the world famous archaeological site, to sign an "Action Plan" with the Italian authorities to accelerate work on the EU's major project to preserve the site. The Action Plan sets down specific measures and targets to complete the project, which is being supported by 78 million euro worth of investment through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
The Pompeii major project was approved in March 2012 by the EC. A presentation of the Action Plan, its official signing, followed by a press conference, took place at Pompeii's Auditorium. The attendees were Johannes Hahn, Graziano Delrio, Under Secretary of the Italian Council of Ministers, in charge of Territorial Cohesion Policy and Sport, Dario Franceschini, Italian Minister for Cultural Goods and Activities and Tourism, and Stefano Caldoro, President of the Campania Region.
The day after, Johannes Hahn went to Rome together with Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Inter-Institutional Relations and Administration, to participate in the Conference of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs, which was held at the Italian Senate.
