Visit of Mehdi Jomâa, Tunisian Prime Minister, to the EC

José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, received Mehdi Jomâa, Tunisian Prime Minister. During their joint press conference José Manuel Barroso notably welcomed the progress of the Tunisian transition and the inclusive national dialogue which led to the adoption of the Constitution and the appointment of Mehdi Jomâa at his position.
He added that the key to a successful democratic transition also laid in the ability to improve the economic and social situation and to boost employment, especially youth employment, with medium and long-term policies. José Manuel Barroso also stressed that the EU/Tunisia privileged partnership, implemented by an action plan until 2017, offered a global and ambitious roadmap to support the country in its democratic transition as well in its economic and social development.
