High Level Conference 'Paving the way for a European Energy Security Strategy'

José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, and Günther Oettinger, Member of the EC in charge of Energy, participated in the closing session of the high level conference "Paving the way for a European Energy Security Strategy" entitled "Security of Supply for Europe – The way ahead" with Donald Tusk, Polish Prime Minister. Dominique Ristori, Director-General of DG "Energy" of the EC, and Vjačeslavs Dombrovskis, Latvian Minister for Economics, made the opening speech.
Representatives from Member States and non-EU governments as well as Members of companies, regulators, associations and think-tanks relevant to the energy sector discussed ways to reduce the EU’s energy dependence. After the conference, the EC presented a Strategy on Energy Security ahead of the European Council of 26-27/06/2014.
