Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global 2014

Maria Damanaki, Member of the EC in charge of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, visited the Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global 2014, the world's largest seafood trade fair, which was held in Brussels from 6 to 8 May 2014.
Fish farming is healthy and can help tackle overfishing and protect wild fish stocks. That was the message delivered by Maria Damanaki, at a specially organised event at the Seafood Expo Global, which is part of the EC's 'Inseparable' campaign to promote sustainable seafood.
During the event, Maria Damanaki was joined by Kevin MacGillivray, President of the Federation of Chefs of Scotland, and Gianfranco Vissani, Italian chef.
Later in the year, an EU run school project across ten countries will raise further awareness of the benefits of eating farmed fish.
