Signature of the European Programme for the establishment of an European capacity for Earth observation, called Copernicus, by the EC and the AUC

Antonio Tajani, Vice President of the EC in charge of Industry and Entrepreneurship, Andris Piebalgs, Member of the EC in charge of Development, and Martial De-Paul Ikounga, Member of the African Union Commission in charge of Human Development, Science and Technology, participated in the signature of the European Programme for the establishment of a European capacity for Earth observation (Copernicus).
Copernicus is the new name of the European Commission’s Earth Observation Programme, previously known as GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security). The programme aims at providing Europe with a continuous, independent and reliable access to earth observation data and information.
