Visit by Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the EC to Spain

Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Industry and Entrepreneurship, embarked on a three-day trip to Spain, stopping at Saragossa, Seville and Merida, as part of the "Missions for Growth" series, whose objective is to deepen economic relations with Spain.
On the occasion of his visit to Saragossa, Antonio Tajani participated in the European Industrial Forum, which was co-organised by the EC and the Regional Government of Aragón, and chaired by Felipe, Prince of Asturias. Antonio Tajani received the Award "Aragón Empresa 2014" for his active and successful efforts in promoting Industry, SMEs and Entrepreneurship. Besides, he was decorated with the Gold Medal of the "Real Instituto de Estudios Europeos", by José Ángel Biel, President de las Cortes de Aragon, for his excellent work in the re-industrialization and the European entrepreneurship.
Antonio Tajani then went to Seville, which was the starting point for the "Missions for Growth" to Andalusia and Extremadura. More than 700 European companies from Spain and 35 countries, including 20 Member States, participated in this important event in Seville. Antonio Tajani co-chaired the event with José Manuel Soria, Spanish Minister for Industry, Energy and Tourism, and Susana Díaz, President of the Government of the Autonomous Community of Andalusia.
On the following day, Antonio Tajani went to Merida, together with José Antonio Monago Terraza, President of the Government of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura, to open the second B2B matchmaking event involving more than 450 companies from other EU Member States. The event took place side-by-side to a cluster-to-cluster event where European Cluster Organisations met to discuss cluster collaborations in sectors such as Aerospace/Aeronautics or Agri-Food and Packaging.
