Press conference by Viviane Reding, Vice-President of the EC, on the 2014 EU Justice Scoreboard
Viviane Reding, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship, gave a press conference on the 2014 EU Justice Scoreboard entitled "Towards more effective justice systems in the EU".
It was the second edition of this Scoreboard, aimed to promote the quality, independence and efficiency of justice systems in the European Union. This Scoreboard was an information tool that presented objective, reliable and comparable data on the justice systems in the Member States. Following the first edition in 2013, the 2014 European Justice Scoreboard would continue to assist Member States and the EU in achieving more effective justice systems, and hence contribute to fostering economic growth in the Union. It would do so by contributing to the European Semester, the EU’s annual economic policy coordination process that aimed to boost Member States' economic performance and competitiveness through a set of country-specific recommendations.
