Participation of José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, Emily O'Reilly, European Ombudsman, and Martin Schulz, President of the EP, in the European Ombudsman's Interactive event 'Your wish list for Europe'

José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, participated in the online Interactive event organised by Emily O'Reilly, European Ombudsman, entitled "Your wish list for Europe", with Martin Schulz, President of the EP.
Emily O'Reilly explained that after five years of waiting, it was finally up to the EU's citizens to decide what kind of Europe they wanted. In May 2014, a new European Parliament would be elected which would play a greater role in the selection of the President of the EC. This event aimed to establish an interactive "wish list" for Europe.
Elected to ensure good administration in Europe, Emily O'Reilly wanted to make sure that Europe lives up to its claim of putting citizens at the heart of decision-making. Which policy areas did citizens wanted the EU to focus on? What do they expected from those who would lead Europe for the following five years? These questions and others were addressed by citizens during the event.
