Kavala, in northern Greece, is built in an amphitheater at a bay, and divided into an old neighborhood, on a rocky hill and a modern area extending westward along the harbor. It was Turkey from 1380 to 1913 and is marked by its history as a former stage town between East and West. This report includes views of the city in general, its ramparts, its castle, city hall and an imposing aqueduct built on the site of the old fortifications
