Visit of José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, to Dresden

José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, went to Dresden where he received the Dresden Medal of Saint George (Sankt Georgs Orden) in the presence of Stanislaw Tillich, Minister-President of the Land of Saxe, in the category "Politics" for his long-standing commitment to European integration, values and unity. The other laureates were Catherine Deneuve, French actress, Silvia, Queen of Sweden, Thomas Gottschalk, German television presenter, Udo Jürgens, Austrian composer and singer, and the citizens of Dresden.
The day after José Manuel Barroso visited several museums and the semiconductor manufacturer "GlobalFoundries" with Rutger Wijburg, Senior Vice-President and General Manager of GlobalFoundries Fab 1 and 8. GlobalFoundries' production site in Dresden was the largest of its kind in Europe.
