BusinessEurope Day on the Blueprint for Industrial Competitiveness

José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Industry and Entrepreneurship, Karel De Gucht, Member of the EC in charge of Trade, and Günther Oettinger, Member of the EC in charge of Energy, participated in the BusinessEurope Day on the occasion of the publication of the Blueprint for Industrial Competitiveness entitled "Industry matters: recommendations for an industrial compact".
This Blueprint set out the key policy drivers that would make European industry more competitive in an ever tougher global environment. It identified the seven areas where innovative EU policy measures and active reform could deliver growth, attract inward investment and encourage the re-shoring of jobs and activities lost to other more competitive world regions in past years.
In light of the EU modestly coming out of the crisis, a sustainable recovery had to include a competitive European industry, the basis of the Commission's Communication published the week before for a European Industrial Renaissance.
