EU/OCHA high-level meeting on the humanitarian crisis in the Central African Republic

Kristalina Georgieva, Member of the EC in charge of International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response, Valerie Amos, UN Under-Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, and Pascal Canfin, French Minister Delegate for Development, participated in the high-level meeting on the humanitarian crisis in the Central African Republic, which gathered the donors in response to a dramatically deteriorating situation.
The meeting, organised in Brussels by the EC and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), heard pledges of support from the EU, EU Member States and other international donors including the United States of America, the World Bank and the African Development Bank.
A new overall figure of humanitarian assistance was announced at the meeting of €150 million, together with a further contribution of nearly €200 million in stabilization and development funds. This brings total support pledged at the meeting to €366 million, equivalent to $496 million. This funding will scale up both the immediate live-saving interventions and short to medium-term assistance.
