Joint press conference by Pascal Lamy, Chairman of the advisory group on the future use of UHF spectrum, and Neelie Kroes, Vice-President of the EC, on the future of the UHF radio spectrum band

Neelie Kroes, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Digital Agenda, and Pascal Lamy, Honorary President of Notre Europe - Jacques Delors Institute, former Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and Chairman of the new advisory group on the future use of UHF spectrum for TV and wireless broadband, gave a joint press conference on the future use of the UHF radio spectrum band.
Pascal Lamy and top executives from Europe's broadcasters, network operators, mobile companies and tech associations have been given six months to make proposals to the EC on how to use the UHF spectrum band (470-790 MHz) most effectively in next decades.
In the face of a rapid and massive growth in demand for spectrum – as consumers demand new broadcast and internet options – Neelie Kroes was asking for quick results: a final report would be delivered to her by July 2014.
