Visit of José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, to Luxembourg

José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, went to Luxembourg to meet with Vassilios Skouris, President of the Court of Justice of the EU, and several Members of the Court. They took part in a roundtable which focused on the last challenges for the EU, including the crisis in the euro zone and the implementation of the Lisbon Treaty, the judicial system and prospects for constitutional reform.
During his visit, José Manuel Barroso underlined the “exceptional work” of the Court of Justice. He highlighted that the European project had been designed from the outset as a community of law, which made all its specificity compared to other international integration projects.
