"Telling the Story – Communicating European Structural and Investment Funds 2014-2020" conference, and the 2013 CAP Communication Awards ceremony

Johannes Hahn, Member of the EC in charge of Regional Policy, and Dacian Cioloş, Member of the EC in charge of Agriculture and Rural Development, participated in the conference entitled "Telling the Story – Communicating European Structural and Investment Funds 2014-2020", which was organised by the EC.
The conference was a unique gathering of communication professionals from the European, national and regional levels, which aimed to boost collaboration between the different key parties involved in communicating about the issue, provide a sound basis for the communication strategies, and finally share good practices in communication and facilitate mutual learning between different countries and funds.
The participants included: Sabine Beikler, journalist at the Der Tagesspiegel, Lowri Evans, Director-General of the DG Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the EC, Zoltán Kazatsay, Deputy Director-General of the DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, Brigitte Debey, Participant in the ESF co-funded project "Plan Lillois pour l’Insertion et l’Emploi", Samantha Nicholson, Director of Enworks, and Cecilia Werner, Director of Communications at the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth.
The debate was moderated by Shada Islam, Director of Policy at Friends of Europe.
Included as part of the event was the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) Communication Awards ceremony, with the participation of Jerzy Plewa, Director-General of the DG Agriculture and Rural Development of the EC. The project that received the most votes from the public was awarded the "Special Prize of the Public".
