Visit of José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, to Panama
José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, went to Panama City where he met with Ricardo Martinelli, President of Panama. Discussions focused on the importance of the relations between the EU and Panama, and the common desire to strengthen them with renewed ambition and new projects. An agreement to strengthen public security in the country had been signed. This was the largest cooperation project ever signed between the EU and Panama.
The two leaders then participated in the 42nd Summit of Heads of State or Government of the Central American Integration System (SICA) in Coclé Province. José Manuel Barroso ended his trip by a visit of the Panama Canal.
