Visit of José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, to Hong Kong and Macau

José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, went to Hong Kong and Macau on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the EU Offices to Hong Kong and Macau. It was his first visit there since he took office in 2005 as President of the EC.
In Hong Kong, José Manuel Barroso delivered a speech entitled "The best is yet to come. Past, present and future of the EU-Hong Kong relationship" to the Hong Kong business community. The event was organised by the European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. The President also met with C Y Leung, Chief Executive of the Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong.
José Manuel Barroso then went to Macau where he met with Fernando Chui Sai On, Chief Executive of the Special Administrative Region of Macau, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of EU/Macau Trade and Cooperation Agreement. He made a speech entitled "EU-Macau: An eye on the past, a foot in the future". The President eventually attended the inauguration of the EU/Macau Chamber of Commerce.
