Handing over of a manifesto from the Startup Europe Leaders Club to Neelie Kroes, Vice-President of the EC

Neelie Kroes, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Digital Agenda, and Herman van Rompuy, President of the European Council, received a manifesto for entrepreneurship and innovation to power growth in the EU, written by the Startup Europe Leaders Club. It was an independent group of founders in the field of technical entrepreneurship, founded by Neelie Kroes. This group acted as role models for European web entrepreneurs and provided guidance to the EC on what needed to be done to strengthen the environment for web entrepreneurs to start in Europe and stay in Europe.
In March 2013, at the launch of the group, the Vice-President invited the Startup Europe Leaders Club to develop this manifesto for economic growth. It had been drawn up by the 9 members of the Startup Leaders Club and drawed on the combined experience of dozens of Europeans who had imagined, built and grown successful businesses. It contained 22 recommendations to the EC, EU Member States and EU companies in the fields of education and skills, access to talent, access to capital, data protection and thought leadership.
Neelie Kroes then met with Mark Rutte, Dutch Prime Minister, and Ann Mettler, Executive Director and co-Founder of The Lisbon Council, for a public presentation of the manifesto.
