Visit of Máire Geoghegan-Quinn, Member of the EC, to Romania

Máire Geoghegan-Quinn, Member of the EC in charge of Research, Innovation and Science, embarked on a two-day visit to Romania.
She first went to Bucharest to meet Victor Ponta, Romanian Prime Minister, Mihnea Costoiu, Romanian Minister Delegate for Higher Education, Scientific Research and Technological Development, and Tudor Prisecaru, Romanian Secretary of State for Research in Ministry of National Education. She then visited the Research Centre of the Polytechnic University Bucharest. The day after, she pronounced a speech on the Horizon 2020 programme during an event organised for the launch of the programme. She also participated in the opening ceremony of the "Romania's Research and innovation in the European Research Space" exhibition, together with Remus Pricopie, Romanian Minister for National Education.
She then went to Măgurele to visit the cyclotron and the new laboratory of the Radiopharmaceuticals Research Centre and the new 3 MV Tandetron Accelerator, as well as the future location of the ELI NP project. Finally, she ended her stay with a visit to the Hadronic Centre.
