Launch of the European Alliance for Apprenticeships in the margins of 2013 WorldSkills competition with the participation of Androulla Vassiliou and László Andor, Members of the EC
Androulla Vassiliou, Member of the EC in charge of Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, László Andor, Member of the EC in charge of Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, and Johanna Wanka, German Federal Minister for Education and Research, participated at the launch of the European Alliance for Apprenticeships, at the WorldSkills competition which was held in Leipzig, in Germany.
The Alliance will help to fight youth unemployment by improving the quality and supply of apprenticeships across the EU through a broad partnership of key employment and education stakeholders. It also seeks to change attitudes to apprenticeships. It will in particular identify the most successful apprenticeship schemes in the EU and apply appropriate solutions in each Member State.
During her visit to WorldSkills 2013, Androulla Vassiliou stopped by the stand "Youth on the Move" of the EC. She then met with the representatives of the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) which is related to the Leonardo da Vinci programme.
