Visit of Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the EC, to Russia

Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Industry and Entrepreneurship, went to Moscow and Saint Petersburg as part of the "Missions for Growth".
In an effort to help EU businesses penetrate foreign markets, the EC organises missions to a number of countries with fast-growing economies.
For this "Mission for Growth in Russia", Antonio Tajani was accompanied by a delegation composed of representatives of companies and industry associations from 23 Member States.
The visit, held from 16 to 18 June, reinforced partnerships to help industry and SMEs to fully exploit the commercial relations potential between the two parties.
In Moscow, Antonio Tajani took the opportunity to have a bilateral dialogue with Denis Manturov, Russian Minister for Industry and Trade, on regulatory issues such as standardisation, technical regulations and conformity assessment procedures. He then met with Vladimir Medinsky, Russian Minister for Culture, with whom he signed a Letter of Intent which launched a new dialogue on tourism policy. This is an important new area of co-operation started at the initiative of Antonio Tajani, where both sides will stand to gain from efforts to enhance tourist flows, as well as from the co-operation of experts and associations in areas including the development of quality tourism services, tourism statistics, as well as education and training in tourism. Antonio Tajani continued his trip to Russia, with a visit to Saint Petersburg where he held a press conference at the State Hermitage Museum.
