Participation of Kristalina Georgieva, Member of the EC, at a EU civil protection exercise, simulating a terrorist attack near Lyon

Kristalina Georgieva, Member of the EC in charge of International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response, went to France to participate in a large-scale European exercise in civil protection near Lyon, together with Manuel Valls, French Minister for the Interior, and Jorge Fernández Díaz, Spanish Minister for the Interior.
The exercise brought together specialised teams from six Member States. It tested and strengthened how they cooperate in responding to a major disaster and provide assistance through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
Based on several scenarios, the exercise simulated a complex terrorist attack and the reaction of the national authorities and their international counterparts joining the response.
