EU/Russia Summit, 03-04/06/2013

José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, and Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the EC, went to Yekaterinburg to participate in the 31st EU/Russia Summit with Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, and Herman van Rompuy, President of the European Council. Discussions focused on economic and trade relations, regional and international security challenges as well as energy and mobility. A particular attention was given to the G20 meeting to be held on 05-06/09/2013 and its Russian Presidency.
The leaders also attended the state of affairs in relation to the negotiations of a new Agreement to replace the preview Partnership and Cooperation Agreement; trade; the EU/Russia Energy Roadmap 2050, mobility and global security challenges – including Syria. A drug precursor's agreement on the fight against illicit drugs has been signed by Catherine Ashton during the Summit.
