Visit of Androulla Vassiliou, Member of the EC, to the CERN

Androulla Vassiliou, Member of the EC in charge of Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, went to the headquarters of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), located in Geneva, to meet scientists and researchers supported with funding from the EU Marie Curie Actions.
Together with Johann N. Schneider-Ammann, Swiss Federal Councillor, Head of the Swiss Federal Department of Economic Affairs, and Rolf-Dieter Heuer, Director-General of CERN, Androulla Vassiliou met with the members of the team which discovered the Higgs particle last summer and researchers who are developing new state-of-the-art 3D imaging to improve cancer treatments. 35 research training initiatives at CERN have received a total of € 44 million in support from the Marie Curie Actions.
