European Citizens' Initiative Day 2013

Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Inter-Institutional Relations and Administration, pronounced the opening speech of the conference organised by the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), on the occasion of the European Citizens' Initiative Day 2013. The aim of the conference was to assess the first year of European Citizens' Initiatives, garner the experiences of organisers and start preparing for the future review. Gerald Häfner, Member of the EP, Staffan Nilsson, President of the EESC, Mercedes Bresso, First Vice-President of the Committee of the Regions (CdR), and Bruno Kaufmann, President of the Initiative and Referendum Institute Europe (IRI), also attended the event.
