Visit of José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, to Czech Republic

José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, went to Prague where he met with Miloš Zeman, President of the Czech Republic. The latter signed the amendment which clarified the legal base of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) on this occasion. The two leaders then attended the ceremony of raising of the European flag in front of the Prague Castle (Hradcin), which was held for the first time since the EU accession of the Czech Republic.
José Manuel Barroso also met with Petr Nečas, Czech Prime Minister. The President welcomed the Prime Minister's statement that the stability of the Euro area was in the strategic interest of the Czech Republic.
