Visit of José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, to Moldova and Armenia

José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, went to Chisinau where he met with Nicolae Timofti, President of Moldova, and Vladimir Filat, Moldovan Prime Minister. He praised Moldova for choosing a courageous path: that of political association and economic integration with the EU. José Manuel Barroso also went to Cricova to visit a wine cellar.
On 30/11/2012, the President met with Marian Lupu, Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament. He then addressed a speech to an audience of students and representatives from the civil society at the National Palace "Nicolae Sulac".
The President also went to Yerevan to meet with Serzh Sargsyan, President of Armenia, and participate in the 2nd European People's Party (EPP) Eastern Partnership Leaders' Summit notably with Mikheil Saakashvili, President of Georgia. José Manuel Barroso then met with representatives from the Armenian civil society and made the speech "European Union and Armenia: promoting our common values and forging stronger ties" on this occasion.
The President also paid tribute to the victims of the Armenian Genocide at the memorial of Tsitsernakaberd, the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute. He eventually met with Members of the Armenian Parliament.
