Visit of Catherine Ashton, Antonio Tajani and Štefan Füle to Egypt

Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the EC, Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Industry and Entrepreneurship, and Štefan Füle, Member of the EC in charge of Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, went to Cairo.
Antonio Tajani was accompanied by a large business delegation composed of representatives of 102 European companies and industry associations from 13 Member States. Collectively they represented approximately three million employees and €700 billion in turnover. This mission was part of the series of "Missions for Growth" to help European enterprises, in particular small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) to better profit from fast growing emerging international markets.
During the EU/Egypt Task Force Business and Tourism Summits, Antonio Tajani and Hatem Abdel Hamid Mahmoud Saleh, Egyptian Minister for Industry and Foreign Trade, signed 4 "Letters of Intent" which identify avenues for: closer co-operation on reduction of SMEs administrative burden, industrial co-operation, tourism policy and standardisation.
Catherine Ashton participated in the 2nd Euro/Arab ministerial meeting. She then met with Mohamed Morsi, President of Egypt. Štefan Füle attended a round table meeting with civil society.
On the next day Catherine Ashton and Antonio Tajani participated in the 1st meeting of the EU/Egypt Task Force.
Catherine Ashton then went to Luxor on 15/11/2012 to visit the Temple of Hatshepsut.
