Visit of Natalia Pinchuk and Marina Adamovich, wives of political prisoners in Belarus, to the EC

Štefan Füle, Member of the EC in charge of Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, received the wives of two political prisoners in Belarus. Natalia Pinchuk is the wife of Ales Bialiatski, Vice-President of International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) and Head of Human Rights Centre (HRC) 'Viasna', who has been detained in Belarus since August 2011. Marina Adamovich is the wife of Mikola Statkevich, Leader of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party, in prison in Belarus since December 2010. The conditions of imprisonment of political prisoners in Belarus and the European efforts to achieve their release and rehabilitation were the main topics of the meeting.
