Participation of Androulla Vassiliou, Member of the EC, at the ceremony announcing the winners of the first Marie Curie Prize and the conference "Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions in Horizon 2020. Regional and international impact"

Androulla Vassiliou, Member of the EC in charge of Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, and George Demosthenous, Cypriot Minister for Education and Culture and President in office of the Council of the EU, participated in the conference "Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions in Horizon 2020. Regional & international impact", which was held in Nicosia. The conference brought together more than 250 experts and policy makers. Androulla Vassiliou then attended the ceremony during which the names of the first three winners of the EC's new Marie Curie Prize for outstanding achievement in research were unveiled. The winners were: Gikas Magiorkinis (Greece), for the "Promising Research Talent" category, Claire Belcher (United Kingdom), for the "Communicating Science" category, and Sarit Sivan (Israel) for the "Innovation and Entrepreneurship" category.
