Andris Piebalgs, Member of the EC in charge of Development, embarked on a two-day visit to Ghana. He went to Accra where he met with several Members of the Ghanaian government, and acknowledged the smooth political transition after the passing of the late President Atta Mills.
During his visit, Andris Piebalgs announced EU additional support to Ghana's efforts in tackling maternal health and further improve the role of local authorities, notably to accelerate the achievement of Millennium Development Goals.
He ended his trip with the visit of a banana plantation located in Asutsuare.
