Visit of José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, to Cape Verde

José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, went to Praia, where he met with José Maria Pereira Neves, Cape Verdean Prime Minister. On 27/10/2012 he met with Jorge Carlos Fonseca, President of Cape Verde. José Manuel Barroso then visited the Operational Unit of the Information Society (iNOS) (Núcleo Operacional da Sociedade de Informação (NOSi)).
The President eventually went to the island of São Vicente to visit a project financed by the EU for the Consumers Defense Association.
This visit to Cape Verde coincided with the fifth anniversary of the EU/Cape Verde Special Partnership. This was the only country in Africa that had concluded a Mobility Partnership with the EU. This was strengthened during the visit by the signature of an agreement on visa facilitation which would further simplify travel between Cape Verde and EU countries.
