Visit of Catherine Ashton, Vice-President of the EC, to Egypt

Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the EC, went to Egypt where she notably met with Mohamed Morsi, President of Egypt. They together discussed the recent political developments in Egypt and Catherine Ashton reiterated the EU’s continued support to the democratic transition in the country.
The Vice-President then participated in the "Egyptian Women: The Way Forward" conference. The main objective of the event was to discuss the way forward for Egyptian women in different spheres of public and private life: political, economic, social and legal, and to learn from the ongoing support by the EU to improve future cooperation and engagement.
