Visit of the Prince of Wales's Corporate Leaders Group on Climate Change to the EC

José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, Janez Potočnik, Member of the EC in charge of Environment, and Connie Hedegaard, Member of the EC in charge of Climate Action, received several representatives of the Prince of Wales's Corporate Leaders Group on Climate Change (CLG). This group gathered number of leading business representatives across the sectors.
The meeting came at a time when preparations for crucial events such as Rio+20 (June 2012) and the COP-18 in Qatar (November 2012) sped up. José Manuel Barroso said he saw the business community and corporate leaders as "natural allies" in the work towards green and sustainable growth.
He added that pushing a low-carbon economy was a key growth strategy and that it was particularly important to make this point in times of crisis. He concluded saying that he therefore saw this crisis - odd as it might sound - as an opportunity to make progress towards (green) growth.
