In his speech the President brought to mind that this policy helped to modernize European agriculture thorough. He also stressed the role that a reformed CAP would play in supporting growth and employment.
The EC thus launched the CAP@50 communication campaign to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Common Agricultural Policy, a cornerstone of European integration, that had provided European citizens with half a century of food security and a living countryside.
