Participation of José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, in the EP plenary session

José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, and Janusz Lewandowski, Member of the EC in charge of Budget and Financial Programming, participated in the plenary session of the EP on the Multiannual Financial Framework 2014-2020 and on the conclusions of the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the EU.
The President praised the work of the Hungarian Presidency, noticing the progress made in several fields. On economic issues, an agreement on the economic governance package was within sight. On migration, FRONTEX has been strengthened, and Common European Asylum System should be complete by 2012. José Manuel Barroso also welcomed the conclusions of negotiations with Croatia and the fact that neighbourhood policy was more than ever at the top of the Union's agenda.
