Press conference by Michel Barnier, Member of the EC, on the modernisation of the Professional Qualifications Directive
Michel Barnier, Member of the EC in charge of Internal Market and Services, gave a press conference on the modernisation of the Professional Qualifications Directive. He highlighted that updating the Professional Qualifications Directive was one of the priorities of the Single Market Act and will help make the European economy more competitive while encouraging growth and job creation.
The professionals had to go easier to where job vacancies existed. A number of important issues was considered during this process including the creation of a professional card for interested professions and improving the training requirements for certain professions.
The Green Paper outlined possible ways forward that build on past achievements while developing new approaches to enhance mobility: introduction of a professional card, potential of new common platforms and minimum training.
