Launch of the Green Week 2011

Janez Potočnik, Member of the EC in charge of Environment, and Connie Hedegaard, Member of the EC in charge of Climate Action, participated in the launch of the Green Week 2011, the biggest annual conference on European environment policy that focuses on resource efficiency. On this occasion, a "plastic bag monster" (The Tackle of the Tentacle) was displayed on the esplanade of the Berlaymont building. The artwork, a giant octopus, spread its plastic tentacles made of trash on the esplanade. The author of this work, the Slovenian artist Miha Artnak, hopes that his creation will raise awareness about resource efficiency.
