Visit of José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, to the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia

José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, and Štefan Füle, Member of the EC in charge of Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, went to the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia where they notably met Gjorge Ivanov, President of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, and Nikola Gruevski, Prime Minister of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. Discussions focused on a number of important issues regarding the accession path to the EU. José Manuel Barroso also attended a conference entitled "Partners in reforms: selection of EU-funded projects".
The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia celebrated three anniversaries in 2011: the 20th of independence, the 10th of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) and the 10th anniversary of the Ohrid Framework Agreement. The country was the fourth and last place where the EC delegation has stopped in its three days tour in the Western Balkans.
